Federal Health Care Reform triggers 25% drop in cost for “High-Risk” Missourians

The Health Insurance CEOs have let over 730,000 Missourians live without health care coverage for years.  SEIU members lead the way, through political activism, to gain access to quality affordable health care for all Americans.  About 20,000 Missourians with pre-existing conditions now have some relief from insurance industry greed through the Missouri Health Insurance Pool (MHIP).

Missouri has three different plans with monthly premiums ranging from $178 to $780. The main qualifications are being uninsured for at least the past six months and a problem getting insurance because of a pre-existing condition.  It is funded without a tax increase, instead through premiums and federal grants of $81 million for Missouri.
